Cuando en 1606 los europeos descubrieron Australia, sin pensarlo, también se toparon con un animal nunca antes visto. Antes de esta fecha existía la certeza de que todos los cisnes eran blancos, pero entonces, un cisne negro (cygnus atratus) se alzó frente a sus ojos.
